The CPRD GOLD database contains longitudinal routinely-collected electronic health records (EHR data) from UK primary care practices using VisionĀ® general practice patient management software. The database captures information on:
- Demographic characteristics
- Diagnoses and symptoms
- Drug exposures
- Vaccination history
- Laboratory tests
- Referrals to hospital and specialist care
Access to anonymised data from CPRD is subject to a full licence agreement containing detailed terms and conditions of use. Anonymised patient datasets can be extracted for researchers against specific study specifications, following protocol approval. Further information is available at www.cprd.com/data-access.

- Total number of research acceptable patients: 21,198,382
- Percentage UK population coverage (current patients only): 2,944,426 of 67,026,300 (4.39%)
- Median (25th and 75th percentile) follow-up time in years for currently registered patients: 12.83 (4.63 - 26.25)
- Patients eligible for linkage: 9,280,917
- Total number of GP practices: 986
- Percentage coverage of UK general practices (currently contributing practices only): 369 of 8,104 (4.55%)
