Expert Review Committee (ERC) Chair and Member vacancies
Are you interested in being involved in decisions about using anonymised patient data for health research? Get involved – We are seeking scientific and clinical experts to join our expert review committees (ERC) that provide advice to the CPRD Research Data Governance (RDG) process on applications requesting access to and use of anonymised patient data for public health research.

NorthWest EHealth (NWEH) has announced a pilot of a new model for safely and securely finding participants for clinical trials, using the Medicine and Healthcare product Regulatory Agency’s (MHRA) Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) data services. This initiative aims to improve the speed, scale, inclusivity and representativeness of participants found for novel clinical trials.

National Data Opt-out and deceased/transferred out patients prior to 1997
The National Data Opt-out programme allows patients to indicate if they do not want their confidential patient information to be shared for purposes beyond their individual care across the health and care system in England. The technical implementation of the opt-outs programme affects some specific sub-groups of patients in the CPRD primary care data, and researchers should consider excluding time before 1997 when defining a study period.
eRAP update: Advance notice of word limit restrictions to the scientific sections of RDG applications
From September 2024 word limits will be introduced to the scientific sections of RDG applications, including feasibility studies.

Patients reviewed our CPRD Trusted Research Environment ‘airlock’ system
We hosted a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) online event on 30 October 2023, with over 20 participants joining from across the UK. As part of our commitment to patients and the Health Research Authority, we continuously seek feedback from patients and the public to help us improve our services.
